Family Physician: Canning

The Western Zone encompasses the coastal beaches and fishing communities of the South Shore, the Acadian and Cajun historic French communities on the Acadian Shore, and breathtaking farmers markets, apple orchards and vineyards of the Annapolis Valley. Western Zone is home to the centrally located Kejimakujik National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage recognized Bay of Fundy. There’s something for everyone in this region, all within 3 hours commute to the capital city.

We have an upcoming need for a full time family physician based in Canning. This clinic will have a close affiliation with the community physicians in neighbouring Wolfville. This opportunity will allow a physician the best of both worlds of having a rural practice in a picturesque farming community and an ability to practice in a busy university town, home of Acadia University.

Depending on your professional interests, physicians may shape their practice to include: nursing home coverage, obstetrical services and ER coverage to name a few services available to participate. The Kentville Regional Hospital is a training site as part of Dalhousie University’s Family Medicine Residency Training Program is only 15 minutes away. Physicians do have an opportunity to work with learners not only residents, but medical students too!

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and must be certified or be eligible for certification by Canadian College of Family Physicians.
