South Shore Health is aggressively recruiting for family physicians and we are hopeful that we will be able to attract new physicians to the area in the near future. Until that time, some residents will be without Family Doctors. Patient Safety is our highest priority and so we encourage patients without a primary care provider to care through the following services.
Same Day Appointment Medical Clinic A doctor will be available to see patients with non-urgent health issues between 3 to 9 pm every Monday and Wednesday in February by Appointment. Residents can make an appointment by calling 527-5815 between 10 and noon on the day of the clinic.
Bridgewater-area physicians operate a daily Walk- in Clinic for patients with non-urgent medical problems. The Clinic is located at the Ambulatory Care Unit on the Third Floor of South Shore Regional Hospital and is open:

Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Registration starts at 3:00 pm on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends on a first come first served basis and may end early depending on the number of patients who have registered.
There are also walk-in clinics in Tantallon and Hammonds Plains. Visit Doctors Nova Scotia for contact information or for a list of other walk-in clinics in Nova Scotia.

Patients who are willing and able to travel for care may find a family doctor in another community. For a list of practices accepting new patients visit the Department of Health and Wellness website or call Physician Information toll free at 1-877-731-1931.
The NS Physician Referral Service of the Nova Scotia Department of Health helps individuals find family practitioners who are accepting new patients. The Physician Referral Service contact number is (902) 424-3047. Due to high demand, the referral service may not be able to respond immediately to patient requests.
Please keep in mind - Family Physicians are independent professionals and choose how to develop and restrict their family practice. Some may practice part-time or full-time and provide varying levels of service. |
